I was ecstatic to try out Panasonic’s latest and greatest electric shaver after using their previous model, the Panasonic Arc 4. I was particularly interested in the new Arc 5 head, which promises higher-quality performance and features.
I immediately ordered the Panasonic ES-LV95-S from my favorite online retailer and eagerly awaited its arrival.
When the package arrived, I was surprised by the size of the box, which was smaller and lighter than I had anticipated.
I was worried that I had ordered the wrong product, but after quickly opening the box, I was relieved to find everything in order.
What is in the box?
So, what did I get in the box? The Panasonic Arc 5 ES-LV95-S kit comes with a built-in sideburn trimmer, clear plastic foil cover, owner’s manual, cleaning instructions, a travel case, cord, cleaning station, and one cleaning solution packet.
The travel case is especially useful for when I’m on the go and need to keep my shaver protected. Overall, I was impressed with the contents of the kit and excited to try out all the different features of the shaver.
Panasonic ES-LV95-S features
Cleaning station:
When I first received the Panasonic ES-LV95-S, I was impressed by its compact size. The cleaning station, which is only a few inches on each side, is incredibly efficient, and the shaver itself is super lightweight at only 7 ounces.
The Arc 5 head, which is huge, doesn’t add too much extra weight to the device.
In addition to the cleaning station, the package includes a foil cover for storage and a high-quality leather travel case that is perfect for when I’m on the go. I appreciate that the shaver can be powered using a single cord that can either charge it directly or power the cleaning station.
To get started, the package includes an owner’s manual, cleaning instructions, and a single cleaning solution packet. It’s worth noting that if you’re someone who cleans your shaver every day, you’ll need to order more cleaning solutions after about a month. Each detergent pouch is good for around 30 cleaning cycles.
Overall, I’m impressed with the design and features of the Panasonic ES-LV95-S.
It’s clear that the company has put a lot of thought into the needs of its customers, and the inclusion of a high-quality travel case and cleaning station makes this shaver a great investment for anyone who wants a dependable, efficient, and easy-to-use grooming tool.
5 blades wet and dry:
As someone with a thick and coarse beard, I was eager to put the Panasonic ES-LV95-S to the test, especially with its 5 blades’ wet and dry features.
The blades are highly durable and provide a quick, close shave, making it a reliable option for those with tough facial hair.
Cleaning the blades is easy too – simply press the indents on the side of the Arc 5 head to remove the foil cover and rinse it with warm water. For deeper cleaning, use soap and warm water.
After cleaning, pop the shaver back into the cleaning station and press “select” twice to activate the dry cycle. It’s important to dry the blades thoroughly as leaving them damp can cause rust and wear them out faster than necessary.
Although you can use the cleaning station as a charger only, I recommend taking advantage of the cleaning function to ensure the longevity of the blades. Trust me, it’s worth it in the long run.
Performance
I recently got my hands on the Panasonic ES-LV65 shaver and put it to the test. One of my initial concerns was the wider head of the Arc 5 compared to Panasonic’s older Arc 4. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how easily I was able to navigate it in all the usual problem areas.
It worked well with or against the grain and only took 3 or 4 passes to get a good close shave. This was a significant improvement over my old Panasonic shaver, which tended to leave me dried out and irritated.
The Panasonic Arc 5 head is super efficient and won’t leave you with any itchiness or redness. The motor runs smoothly with minimal vibration and is also quiet, more like a barber’s tool than a traditional home shaver.
Another great feature is that it is totally waterproof, so you can use it in the shower if you prefer.
On the back of the head, there’s a switch that causes a small sideburn edger to pop up. While it may not be the best option for tackling a big beard, it works perfectly for trimming sideburns.
Overall, the Panasonic ES-LV65 shaver is an excellent choice. It boasts a powerful, 14,000 RPM motor, low-vibration, and a built-in sideburn edger. If you’re looking for a reliable and efficient electric shaver, this is definitely one to consider.
User-Friendliness
The Panasonic Arc 5 ES-LV95-S electric shaver is designed to be extremely user-friendly, with a lightweight and ergonomic design and a minimal number of settings to navigate.
It’s easy to turn on and off, and the toggle lets you temporarily deactivate the power button to conserve battery when traveling.
Another great feature is the sideburn trimmer that pops up with the flip of a switch, which can also lock the shaver’s head in place for precision shaving around the upper lip.
The cleaning and charging options are also impressive, with both automatic and manual cleaning available through the cleaning station. And if you prefer not to use the station, you can charge the shaver directly from the cord.
The LED display on the handle is also helpful, showing how many minutes of shaving time you have left before the battery needs to be recharged.
With a fully charged battery, you can use the shaver for up to 70 minutes, making it a great option for weekend trips.
All of these features make the Panasonic Arc 5 ES-LV95-S an excellent choice for anyone looking for a user-friendly electric shaver that delivers a close, comfortable shave.
Accessories
I was impressed with the accessories that come with the Panasonic Arc 5 ES-LV95-S electric shaver. The cleaning station is much smaller than most and takes up minimal space on the bathroom counter.
When my wife saw it, she even suggested I should keep it, which is high praise coming from her.
To set up the cleaning station, press the button on the left side and lift it up to remove the cleaning reservoir magazine. It should drop out, but you may need to give it a gentle tug. Then, remove the reservoir and empty the detergent packet into it.
Fill the rest with warm water up to the fill line and put the reservoir back into the magazine. Press it back into the cleaning station until it clicks.
The cleaning station is efficient, taking only an hour to complete a full cycle. During the cycle, the razor runs, but it’s a quiet buzz that won’t disturb anyone.
When the “low” light comes on, you’ve got about 7 days left before you need to change the cleaning solution.
Another great accessory is the travel case. It’s well-built and molded to fit the ES-LV95-S’s shape perfectly. It’s also compact, taking up almost no room in your luggage. Plus, the durable zipper looks like it can withstand a lot of wear and tear.
Ease of Use
I find it incredibly user-friendly and easy to maintain. After each use, all I have to do is place the shaver in the charging station and hit the “select” button. Two lights illuminate, indicating “dry” and “charge.”
By pressing the “select” button once, both buttons light up. After six seconds, the charging station starts cleaning and drying the shaver. Even though I can clean the shaver with soap and water, I believe the cleaning and charging system is a worthwhile investment because of its luxurious and comfortable feel.
Panasonic ARC 5 Replacement Blades
In terms of replacement parts, I highly recommend the Panasonic Arc 5 replacement blades. They are metal and feel extremely solid. You can replace the foil screen without having to purchase the entire replacement blade, which makes it a more cost-effective option.
This replacement head is compatible with the Panasonic Arc 5 electric razors, such as ES-LV65-S and ES-LV95-S.

My Thoughts on the Panasonic Arc5 ES-LV95-S Price
I must say, the Panasonic Arc5 ES-LV95-S is definitely on the pricey side of electric shavers, but it’s still cheaper than the Braun series 9 and comparable to other high-end Philips Norelco products. What sets it apart from other top-of-the-line shavers is how affordable it is to maintain.
The replacement blades and foils are available from a generic supplier at a fraction of the cost of other high-end replacement parts.
Although the cleaning solution for the shaver is expensive, about eight times the cost of the detergent for the Panasonic ES-LA93-K, I prefer to clean it by hand to save some money.
Pros:
- Comparable to other premium shavers.
- Affordable blade and foil replacements.
Cons:
- Expensive cleaning solution.
How does the Panasonic Arc5 ES-LV95-S Stack Up?
In my experience, this shaver provides a much gentler shave compared to older Panasonic models like the LV65. The locking feature on the head also nicely solves the issues of working in tight areas.
The 14,000 RPM motor is also a major improvement over the Braun 10,000 RPM motor, making it an excellent choice for those looking for a high-speed electric shaver.
Although the Panasonic Arc5 ES-LV95-S costs more than comparable Braun products, it’s still cheaper to maintain despite the expensive detergent packets. In comparison to the Philips Norelco 9000, I found that this shaver cut faster and closer and caused less irritation.
However, I should note that both Philips and Braun offer rotary heads, which Panasonic does not have.
My Final Thoughts
I’ve been a long-time user of Panasonic electric shavers, and I have to say that the LV95-S is by far the best one yet.
Not only does it cut close and fast, but it’s also incredibly smooth and avoids the cardinal sin of being too small. I’m particularly impressed with the built-in sideburn trimmer and the travel options, which have come in handy on multiple occasions.
And the best part? The cleaning station is compact enough to keep my wife happy.
While the LV95-S is an excellent shaver, it’s not for everyone. If you prefer a minimum of fuss, you might be better off with the quieter and less fussy Philips Norelco 9000 shaver.
If you have sensitive skin, I recommend taking a look at the Braun Series 790cc or Series 9 9370cc. I’ve written about my impressions of the Braun series 790cc and 9290cc on my blog, so feel free to check those out for more information.
Final Verdict
I recently upgraded from the Panasonic ES-LV65-S to the Model LV95 Arc 5, and I have to say, I’m beyond happy with my investment. I didn’t think it was possible to get a better shave than the Panasonic Arc 5, but I was wrong. This electric razor is truly superior to any other on the market.
The Panasonic Arc 5 Electric razor ES-LV95-S is hands down one of the best shavers on the market, and the Arc 5 head is probably the best head out there. It’s lightweight, easy to use, has plenty of battery life, and is easy to maintain.
If you’re happy with your Panasonic ES-LV65, the LV95-S might not be a significant upgrade for you. However, if you’re experiencing issues with water getting trapped in your shaver, it might be worth contacting Panasonic about it.
Overall, I love the Panasonic Arc 5 shaver. It’s quiet, shaves me in half the time, and does an outstanding job. If you can afford it, the Panasonic Arc 5 ES-LV95-S is the best electric shaver for men on the market. I highly recommend it.
